Meet Your Therapist…
Aubrey Daam
How do you spend your free time?
In the colder months, I enjoy hibernating inside, watching movies with my family, and curling up with a good book accompanied by some dark chocolate and a warm cup of tea. In the warmer months, I enjoy being outside as much as possible, either exploring new parks, kayaking, or going on bike rides with my family.
What do you like most about being a therapist:
I consider therapy as one of the few places in our life where we have uninterrupted time to be seen and heard. As a therapist, I am honored to be able to provide some of this undivided attention to someone, from children to adults.
What would you want someone who has never been in therapy to know about starting with you?
Every person’s life is like a story, and each story has a unique plot with twists, turns, and different characters throughout the pages. I am grateful to play a small part in someone’s story as they gain confidence to continue authoring and editing their story even as they work through their difficult chapters.
Every therapist talks about the importance of coping skills for the people they work with, but what are your favorite coping skills for yourself?
I have found that movement, and preferably movement outside, is vital for my well-being, such as walking, running, and practicing yoga. Connecting with my social supports, including family members and friends, is also important. Finally, my spiritual practices are very important in my own wellness.
